The Ambassadors made easy work of the Sol winning 4-1 and will participate in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) national playoffs this weekend in San Diego, CA The Ambassadors have not lost at home all season, and they had great start to the game to ensure their first loss would not come in the championship game. In the third minute of the game, Jordan Keyes crushed a header in the goal off a corner from Javier Hill. Scoring first and early opened the door for the Ambassadors to sprint through. The Sol and Ambassadors traded possession until Stefan Clemens slipped a ball in behind the defense for Emrah Klimenta to finish giving the Ambassadors a 2-0 lead. Klimenta scored his second goal of the game with a shot combining placement and power off a pass from Dylan Murphy. The Sol struggled to find a rhythm in the first half with the Ambassadors leading 3-0. The second half saw the Sol throw numbers forward to try to recover from the three-goal deficit. The Ambassadors calmly handled the pressure clearing crosses and not allowing any space in behind. The Sol had one breakthrough with a shot from outside the eighteen-yard box by Sean Callahan. His goal made the score 3-1. The Ambassadors created chance after chance but failed to produce the dagger to end the game until the 89th minute. Nick Cashmere used his impressive speed to track to down a punt from Derek Lesley and loop it over the Sol’s goalie for the fourth goal of the game. The Ambassadors won the championship 4-1. “This game shows the hard work and time all the players have put in this season,” said Ambassadors coach Mohammed Mohammed. “As a coach, you’re proud when the players get the result they deserve, and this group more than deserved it.” The Ambassadors will compete in the NPSL national playoffs next weekend in San Diego, CA. Bay Area Ambassadors Advance to NPSL West Conference Championship
Oakland, CA (July 15, 2012)- The Bay Area Ambassadors (Ambassadors) earned the chance to keep their season going with a 3-2 win over FC Santa Clarita (Santa Clarita). The Ambassadors will host the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) West Conference Championship game. Santa Clarita looked to return the favor the Ambassadors gave to them when the Ambassadors traveled to Southern California and beat them on their home field. Santa Clarita had a good start as they scored the opening goal of the game. Santa Clarita found a little space in the Ambassadors ‘ defense with a little combination play and a neat finish. The Ambassadors responded quickly wit a goal of their own. Stefan Clemens raced down the sideline dribbling past his defender where served a cross to Emrah Klimenta who calmly tucked the ball into the side netting. The Ambassadors would continue to pressure with the score now tied 1-1. Santa Clarita would slow the Ambassadors’ momentum with a second goal from a free kick. The half ended 2-1. The Ambassadors showed their championship pedigree in the second half. Even with being a goal down, they remained calm and played possession soccer knowing it would eventually wear down the Santa Clarita defense. Most of the second half would be played in the Ambassadors attacking half. The Ambassadors found the scoring touch with twenty minutes remaining in the game. Yousef Samy scored a penalty kick after a Santa Clarita defender blocked an Ambassador shot with his hand. The Ambassadors continued pressing with the intention to end the game in regulation. With eight minutes left, the Ambassadors took the lead 3-2. Francis Lopez crossed the ball in that found Brayan Walle’s feet. Walle has been a consistent goal scorer all season and provided the winning goal once again for the Ambassadors. The Ambassadors will face the Sonoma Sol in the NPSL West Conference Championship Saturday July 21st at Raimondi Park in Oakland, CA at 7:00 p.m. Look for updates on the Ambassadors’ website (www.fcbayarea.com) and Twitter (@baafc).
